Chaisilog

Lead singer Chaychay Almendras, a student in Silliman University, rounded up her friends that make up this five-member band: Joseph Anthony Somera on guitar, Dave Dizon Villanueva on bass, Deo Winston Dingal on percussion and vocals, and Leonard Ardonia, a new member for sessions, on ukulele and percussion.

Their musical influences are varied—from bossa nova, samba and reggae; jazz and the blues, to the music of the ‘80s and ‘90s; Pinoy and Hawaiian music; and funk, hard rock and metal. But best of all, the band gives its audiences a treat with songs like “Journey” of Julie Gold, made popular by Lea Salonga and John Lennon's “Imagine” with a bossa nova beat, rendering such songs new again.

After performing their first gig at Payag last June 2009, Chaisilog delights its followers and enthusiasts at Atong Kamalig on Saturdays and Sundays at 9:00 p.m. and at Annabelle Jeans on Wednesdays at 9:30 p.m.

Chaisilog, like tapsilog our Pinoy all-time favorite breakfast dish, promises to stay a staple in the Dumaguete music scene.
